Legendary Designer Issey Miyake Has Died At Age 84

The legendary designer Issey Miyake died at age 84 of liver cancer surrounded by close friends and family , according to a statement released by the Issey Miyake group . 

The Japanese designer was born in Hiroshima in 1938 . Miyake wanted to become a dancer or athlete but his sister’s fashion magazines change his mind. He studied at Tokyo university .The designer moved to Paris during the 60s and worked in many fashion houses like Givenchy and Guy Laroche.

He returned in Tokyo in 1970 where he opened the Issey Miyake Studio.

The most iconic Issey Miyake runway it was the The Pleats, Please line on the catwalk in Paris in 1995.
